One of the sunniest spots in Montenegro, home of beautiful olive gardens, Austro Hungarian fortresses, breathtaking viewpoints, colors and remote beaches, Lustica Peninsula makes one of the last destinations on Montenegrin coast yet to be discovered by tourists.
Few of my friends and I had a really wonderful experience there last May, when we went exploring one of peninsula’s hiking trails.
The first part of the trail took us through open space which gave us a view at Bay of Kotor. (Even if it’s really amazing, I wouldn’t really recommend it to do in July or August, as temperature can get really high.)
After approx. one hour of not so demanding ascent in this open area we finally reached shade of the forest, which was following us (on and off) for the next half an hour, until we started descending to other side of Peninsula and where beautiful olive zone and villages were awaiting.
It took us a little bit over 2 hours to reach destination we were going to – village Tici, where we were welcomed by a local host, who walked us trough his olive field, showed us how he produces his organic olive oil, and invited us for some drinks and traditional Montenegrin snack (prosciutto, cheese, olive and traditional Montenegrin donuts).
I wish I could say we stayed in Tici, waiting for amazing sunset you can experience here, legs crossed and beer in our hands, but our car was all the way back on the other side of peninsula, so we said goodbye and started our journey back. :D
